At the time of this writing we have already collected 825 signatures (from people all over the world). The petition is a first step -- it serves to spread the word about this project and to give people a platform to voice their support for it. Pondering has been going on behind the scenes about what to do next and who to approach and such... I do imagine the campaign can build over time and years. I believe there is a committee that weighs the applications. John Cusak is an interesting choice, always does fine work in appealing films but not blockbusters.

I guess regarding earnings... well, in a capitalist society it's all relative. If the enigma of a person generates revenue then they're a sought after commodity so why shouldn't they earn what people are paying for? It's the same for doctors and what they do, that's why surgeons make so much money; they make money for the hospitals, in the same way actors make money for studios and producers. Benicio will have his star on the walk of fame and it'll be a very happy day for him and all of his fans.

Unless you mean plastic surgeons, which are a very special kind of doctors. In my country teachers, nurses and doctors who just got their degree don´t earn enough to make a living. And on the other hand, you see a very little bunch of people eraning so much for so little effort. I guess Benicio is referring to that disproportion.
